Q&A - Get to know Clay

What is your favorite part of a deal and why?

Besides closing dinners, the best part of a deal for me is getting to know the management team and seeing how they think about the business. Hearing directly from owners and executives about what made their business successful - and the challenges they’ve faced along the way - is always a privilege.

What are some of the most valuable lessons you have learned throughout your career, and how have those lessons helped you in your work?

I’ve found that the biggest lessons usually come from challenges and failures. These obstacles build resilience, spark creativity, and force you to adapt. Staying curious and open to new ideas has been key for me, both professionally and personally. It’s helped me take on new roles, handle more responsibility, and grow into a more well-rounded professional.

What do you think are the most important considerations for building and maintaining a successful team or organization?

I think it’s important to celebrate wins, take pride in the team’s work product, and stay open to new technology.
