As states continue to loosen restrictions and more construction sites are reopening, the need for technological advancement in the Construction industry is becoming clear. In a recent blog from PitchBook, Priyamvada Mathur details how construction companies are finally starting to listen to the technology firms in their industry who have been actively promoting their products for years. These products include things like 3D scanning and remote inspection. Some companies are altering current technologies to be able to send alerts when workers are too close to each other or are not wearing the correct protective gear.
Tom Poran of Matterport was quoted in the article saying "While a sharp noticeable change toward digitization has begun to spread in the US, Europe and Australia, the pace of that change has been exponential during COVID-19." Many believe that these useful tools will soon become the standard in the industry that has been slow to adapt to technological advances.
