6/10/2021: PE Firms Continue to see Oversubscribed Fund Raises

 

As the economy continues to recover and investors are looking for places to put their capital to work, PE firms are taking advantage by raising larger funds. In a recent Mergers & Acquisitions article, Demitri Diakantonis noted that TA Associates, Frazier Healthcare Partners, and Luminate Capital have all recently raised oversubscribed funds, hinting that private company deals, particularly healthcare and technology, will the beneficiaries as these firms look to deploy their capital.  Year-to-date through June 2, PE firms have raised around $240 billion; this is compared to $176 billion during the first half of 2020 and $180 billion in the first half of 2019. Stewart Kohl, co-CEO of the Riverside Co was quoted saying “Based on my 32 years of doing this, this is the best M&A market I can recall – if you define best as being the highest multiple, fastest to sell, easiest time to operate.”
