Boston Scientific Corporation, a Massachusetts-based medical device manufacturer, announced it would acquire Canadian-based medical device maker Baylis Medical Company for $1.75 billion. Baylis Medical Company is a global leader in the development and commercialization of medical devices in the field of cardiology.
The purpose of the acquisition is for Boston Scientific to expand on its electrophysiology and heart product portfolios. The acquisition also gives Boston Scientific access to Baylis’ platforms and family of tools used in various heart procedures. The deal is expected to close early 2022, with expectations that Baylis will generate net sales of about $200 million next year.
