The Minnesota based consumer electronics retailer, Best Buy Co., recently announced their intent to acquire Current Health, a care-at-home-technology platform. The Current Health platform incorporates remote patient monitoring, a telehealth solution, and patient engagement options into one ecosystem. The President of Best Buy Health was quoted saying, “The future of consumer technology is directly connected to the future of healthcare. By combining Current Health’s remote care management platform with our existing health products and services, we can create a holistic care ecosystem that shows up for someone across all of their healthcare needs.”
This deal expands Best Buy’s foray into healthcare technology, particularly targeted at older adults. In prior years, the company launched a flip phone for older adults, partnered with a startup to market virtual diagnostic services, and bought a mobile device provider for older adults.
