UnitedHealth recently announced their intent to acquire LHC Group, a Louisiana-based home-care business. The acquisition is the first by UnitedHealth in the traditional home-care space and will allow its patients who have trouble commuting to offices better access to the company’s health care services. This acquisition follows a similar deal by Humana as the home-care space has seen quite a bit of consolidation over the past few years.
The LHC Group is expected to become a part of the Optum Health group under the UnitedHealth umbrella. The deal is valued around $6.0 billion of enterprise value inclusive of the assumption of some existing debt LHC Group debt.
